I never even thought about just hitting the brake with the correct voltage, that would be a much easier way to do it. I was going to make the 48V pack and wire it into the main system which would require enough current to hit all the solenoids as well as power the controller and drive the brake coil. Did you measure the voltage the brake receives from the controller or just increase the voltage on your charge pump until it released?

Measured ohms on brake coil, calculated voltage based on how "hard" a danaher controller drives the coil (500 milliamp). < - (Curtis is controller works a little different but using this method works for me). Then upped the voltage just a little to get the stubborn brakes to work. Ohms law at work...
I did it this way because I work at the dealer, and would be using it frequently. It has worked so well, I made one for our other shop too. |
