Txt problems? Need advice
Hey guys im working on a txt 36v for a buddy and im at a stand still???
Luckily I have a second txt here so I have been swapping parts around with no luck so far. Pack voltage is good. Solenoid and diode are brand new. I have swapped out speed controllers and they test good. If I use my voltage tester and put the negative on the battery pack and the positive on the M - of the speed controller I get nothing. But on my other txt cart I get pack voltage? I'm thinking it may need a motor? |

Re: Txt problems? Need advice
Which drive system, series or sepex?
Does the solenoid click when pedal is pushed? Has the solenoid got a resistor between the two large studs? |

Re: Txt problems? Need advice
Series cart, yes the solenoid clicks when the pedal is pushed, the solenoid has a very small diode in between the two small studs

Re: Txt problems? Need advice
Unless there is a pre-charge resistor installed, there won't be voltage between B- and M- until solenoid clicks. Starts at pack voltage when solenoid first clocks and decreases to zero as pedal is pushed to floor.
Jumper the solenoid's small terminal with the red wires attached to battery B+ to energize solenoid without pushing pedal. You should get full pack voltage (38.2V if fully charged) between B- and M-. If you dodn't go looking for it with your DVM's positive test lead. The F/R Switch high current contacts are the most likely suspects, but could be cables and connections. |

Re: Txt problems? Need advice
When you get the problem that is keeping it from running fixed, install a 250Ω 5W resistor between the large terminals. It keeps the filter capacitors in the controller charged so the solenoid contacts don't get as badly pitted when they are closing. (They bounce a few times before settling down to a solid contact and arcing can occur)

Re: Txt problems? Need advice
The batteries are definitely low I have the cart charging as we speak.
I am getting 35 volts to the solenoid and on the other side out of the solenoid I'm getting 24 volts? I ran a jumper wire from the battery pack positive to the small red wire on the small terminal the solenoid to jump it open and I still have no power output at m- |

Re: Txt problems? Need advice
Start tracing out the highlighted cables with your DVM. B+ has to go through just about all of then to get to the M- terminal.

Re: Txt problems? Need advice
I have 38 volts going into the right side of the solenoid and now 9 volts coming out of the left side key on

Re: Txt problems? Need advice
Shouldn't be any voltage drop across the contacts of the solenoid.
Does solenoid click when jumper wire from battery is disconnected and reconnected? |
