Club Car F/R Switch on EZ-GO Medalist

I have a 1996 EZ-GO Medalist (S/N: 881395). The stock Forward Reverse switch is awful as far as reliability. Switch assembly comes loose causing a gap between the cam assembly and the switch board causing disconnects, or worse, melting of the board due to high resistance. I'm tired of working on the switch/replacing it.

I was wondering if anyone has replaced the F/R switch with an old Club Car 36V F/R switch such as this one:

or have you any other suggestions. I saw somewhere that you could buy a solenoid F/R switch but I don't remember where I saw it.

To answer your question. You can use a rotary F&R from any series cart since they all work with the same 4 cables and principles. Two challenges are mounting and micro switch applications.

I went with Scottyb's SW182 reversing contactor on my 94 Medalist.
as I mainly use my cart for golfing.
He includes clear detailed instructions.

I’ve got it on my cart, so much better than the rotary switch. I had problems with mine too. Actually caught the cart on fire one night.

Yeah we've had it smoke a couple of times while driving it, and then usually it welds together into a big paper weight.
