Club car charger extension cord
Has anyone fabricated an extension cord? I would be more comfortable running an extension cord for my charger than leaving the charger outside with an AC extension cord. I have plenty of 8 gauge wire to use. Is the cart receptacle and plug available separate to purchase and make my own?

Re: Club car charger extension cord
I somehow ended up with a REALLY long DC cord on an old PowerDrive 2. (Must be 20’) I keep it every time I sell a cart because it’s so convenient.

The charger itself has the long cord? I’m debating just splicing in an extension and soldering it. Is it 10 gauge cable? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Club car charger extension cord
How far away is the cart going to be from the charger?
DC doesn’t travel as well over long distances, so if you need it longer than say, 20 feet you’ll need to increase your wire size quite a bit to allow full current flow, and even then you’ll still lose some of that to heat and other factors. otherwise the loss of current due to the resistance of the wires will result in improper charging, and possibly excessive heat in the wires which can cause a fire in certain situations. |

Re: Club car charger extension cord
I'm replacing the DC cord and Plug on my Powerdrive 2 charger with one that is 15 feet long. What is the gauge wire is in the charger now and what gauge should I use? I'm concerned that if I increase the wire size it won't fit through the Stress Relief Bushing on the front of the charger. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
