Default Re: Lower gears for RXV

I’ve been doing some calculations.
If my math is right, with the stock tires and gears the cart theoretically
Moves forward 353 inches per 100 motor revolutions.
The stock gears are just about 16:1.
My low gear set is about 19.6:1.
That wouid reduce it to 288 inches traveled per 100 revs.

22” tires with the lower gears installed theoretically math kit go 352 inches travelled per 100 revs, near identical to the stock tire/gear combo.

Next thing to figure is how low I can keep the cart with 22” tires.
I want to retain the soft ride and stay low for stability on sloped terrain (like my property is).

Stock RXV gears are 16.99:1 or roughly 17:1 rather than 16:1, so you calculations are off quite a ways.

With 18" tires and 16.99:1 gears you get 332.835"/100RPM
With 22" tires and 19.63:1 gears you get 352.089"/100RPM

Oh that’s right!!! 16.99, not 16...
well, the ratio with 22s still seems pretty close to stock.
I don’t wanna lose much torque, it’s hilly here.

Do these things still drive nice with a 3” spindle lift? I really don’t want 6”.
I don’t even want any lift, but the tires need to fit.
I need more aggressive tires for the property and I need to put bigger wheels on because I want to add front disc brakes, just for extra safety on the hills.

My wife drives this cart a lot. She doesn’t want to climb up on it, or get beat up while driving it, or roll it over.

allsports and ezgo both make a small spindle lift (2.5") for the RXV that is unlike most spindle lift kits. Instead of the spindle having an "arm" that goes out and down for the hub to attach to like most spindle lifts it just has a spindle that comes out at the very bottom instead of half way up like the stock spindle. not sure if that makes sense but look up some pictures on their website and you can see. For the rear they use a shackle lift instead of moving the spring to the top of the axle. I've used a bunch of them and they are great lift kits that allow for 22" tires with just a little bit of cutting to a brace in the back of the rear wheel wells. Keeps the cart reasonably low and does not negatively affect the ride or handling or add unnecessary stress to the front suspension components.

The only reason I’m wanting to use a Jake’s lift is I want to add their front disc brake kit.
They have two, one for their drop spindles and one for stock carts.
I’ll have to see if I can figure out if the front brakes will work with either of those arrangements.
