Default 04 Precedent dash wiring

Just installed a stretch kit which has the F n R switch relocated to the dash replacing/removing the factory battery LED, leaving a spare pair(brown/orange). Haven’t measured yet but assume it’s 48v switched? Can I use that pair to wire in my digital battery gauge. Also, there already was another spare pair(black/red) tucked in the dash. What would they be used for? Thanks in advance

You cannot use the Brown/White wire that use to connect to the warning light.

The Orange wire and the spare Red wire have constant +48v.

The Black/Yellow wire is a spare negative wire that can be used.

Thanks Sergio. Good to know I have 2 pairs of constant 48v. But don’t I need a switched source from the key switch so the gauge shuts off? I was thinking of also running a USB port. Would the USB also need a switched 48v source?

Just run a new wire from the side of the key switch with the Blue wire for a switched +48v connection.

Your USB port most likely takes 12v not 48v.

The just installed my light kit with brake lights and turn signal. But it does not turn on/off with the key switch. It came with a relay which has 4 wires from the light harness attached to it. Org/wht, grn/wht, blu/wht, and blue. Wired it per the install manual. I thought the blu/wht or blue wire was 48v switched. The headlight and rear lights can turn on without the key switch but in order for the brake lights to function the key switch needs to be on. Don’t get it. I want the key switch to be able to turn all the lights on and off

Make sure Your 48v to 12v converter is activated by the key switch.

Do your lights get power straight from the pack or from a reducer?
It's better to have them pull from a 48 to 12v reducer so the amp draw on the pack is even across all the batteries. If you don't have one, get a reducer that is switched by the key so anything on the 12v side turns off with key off.
CartsUnlimited and Revolution both sell switched reducers.

Will install a 48v/12v converter and have it wired to the cold side of the key switch. Thanks again Sergio

Yes I currently have it wired to my #4 battery. Will install a 48v/12v converter. Thanks again
