Rear Cover of Control Panel No Longer Fits
Finished installing new XCT controller, HD Solenoid and 2 g cables. Now the plastic back cover of the control panel will not fit because of the larger size of the controller and the big ole fat solenoid.
I have spent 9 hours, seriously, trying to make it fit. Have routed the cables in every configuration I could imagine as well as following the pictures in the installation instructions. I cut the extra hole for the cables. I even cut out a section to allow the controller to have more room. Nothing has worked. I finally found an old thread where David Hicks said he never re-installs the plastic cover. He just leave it off. Others agreed with him. Being OCD, I worry about water, dirt and mud finding its way into the panel. I realize that Alltrax says this controller is waterproof. 1. Would a cover made of sheet metal work or would this be dangerous material to use? 2. I have cut some plastic off a Sterilite plastic container that I can use to add additional depth to the cover to make it fit. Does the controller get hot enough that I need to be worried about this plastic melting? This won't be a pretty fix. It will involve zip ties and plastic welding. 3. Should I leave the cover off and hope for the best? |

Re: Rear Cover of Control Panel No Longer Fits
Are you referring to the controller cover or the rear access cover in the bag well?.

Do not use the environmental cover to seal up the Alltrax controller. It is water proof and needs circulating air to keep cool.

Re: Rear Cover of Control Panel No Longer Fits
"Environmental cover" is new term to me. LOL. I understand about the need for good air flow. The next time you talk with the folks at Alltrax about the errors in their installation manual (from old posts I know you've done this) tell them to include the fact that the cover needs to be left off. Would have saved me from hours of frustration. Thank you very much!!
