The seller got back to me and said a minimum of 10amps.

So a 20amp or 25amp reducer should be fine.

Since there is a separate on/off light switch, how important is it to have a wire going to the power of the ignition to reduce draw?

With the light switch and ignition off, shouldn't there be no draw on the reducer with no wire to the ignition?
