Default 2015 RXV batteries sparking

Hey guys, I cleaned up my father in laws RXV as there was quite a bit of corrosion in the terminals from sitting for 6 months and the charge lead was corroded in two. Cleaned everything up, put a new terminal ring on the charging lead and plugged her in to charge. A few hours later, rode by to give it a whirl. As soon as I turn the key on, two positive terminals on two different batteries start sparking. Solenoid doesn’t click on or off. I have double checked every connection and can’t find anything out of the ordinary. Any ideas …???

A short within the batteries? Check the pack voltage and each individual battery with a DVM and report the results here.

So the pack voltage is around 45.6 and the individual batteries are 11.6,11.7,11.8 and 12 even. He is going to charge it all day tomorrow and see what it will get up too.

If the terminals are sparking, the only thing it can be is a loose connection, if the connection was tight & there was a short, a wire, or the terminal would melt.

Battery voltage between 11.6 - 12v indicates they're totally dead ( s. enclosed chart for reference ). After a full charge, let the batteries sit ~ 10 hrs and messure again.
