Default engine help

putting together a 295 engine using the old style piston rings with 3 piece oil ring. not sure whether the flat ring is the top compression ring or is the one with a bevel on each side. have manual but it only shows the newer style of rings

One ring is perfectly flat and one has a slight bevel on each edge. I assume the one with the slight bevel is the middle ring and the flat one is the top ring

Yes, your assumption is correct. I assume the bevel is on one edge of the inside of the second ring, yes?
