Default need a lot of help!!!!

i can't get my secondary clutch apart on a 93 marthon, i can just get the snap ring off and then nothing, i put a lot of pb blaster on it and nothing, anything else i can do. i can't even push the helix down just enough to get the snap ring off. what am i doing wrong????

No offense, but if you asked me, I would say the main wrong thing is that you are trying to repair a 17 year old clutch!

Take a piece of pipe or a socket slightly smaller then shaft OD and tap it with a hammer. Helix will move up with each hit. Mike maybe clutch has been replaced.

ok i'll try that, no clutch has not been replaced, just trying to put a different spring in it. i thought it would be rusted on. i got a puller that we could put on the shaft and pull the clutch apart but i don't want the helix to come flying off with the spring tension. thanks for the fast reply

If clutch is original, Like Mike said it may not be servicable.

not sure if it is bought it used 5 years ago from a guy who rents them out to golf courses and he repairs them, so not sure if it was changed out or original. the bad part is can only work in the cart a couple times a year its in northern minnesota and we live in IL
