Re: G2 power loss?
Ok thanks for the comments..Mike, I did check the drive clutch...broke weight..I ordered a new clutch kit..also I tightened engine tensioner and I will check the wire you are talking about. I am also gonna look at the governor adjustment...Is that it toward the back above the differential? I am slowly rebuilding this thing..but like you guys said it is addicting..But I couldnt do it without the help of you guys!! Thanks!

Re: G2 power loss?
If it is a g2 you will need to get past the rev limiter or it will continue to cut out at higher rpms. i would bye pass the govonor it makes a huge difference in speed. with the size tires you have on it that thing will fly down the road with the govonor by passed.

Re: G2 power loss?
Tensioner should not be tight. .080 space at nut. If primary clutch sheave is still good, you may only need to replace the weight. Kinda feel both sides of the sheave for thickness. If its close to wearing holes in it, then yes, replace sheave as well.
I would bypass gov. Then just watch it for over revving the motor. Especially going down hill! And last, Read the site, you will learn tons. Do maint. and it will run as good as it looks!! |

Re: G2 power loss?
thanks. I ordered all new weights and pins..I was wondering if I could just adjust the governor or if it was a lot of trouble bypassing it?

Re: G2 power loss?
very easy to bypass. so is it a G2 or G9? ive got mine hooked up direct. all i did was loop the cable around to the carb. i think their is a tread for that and it has pictures. i also readjusted my foot throttle so i would have full throttle. i just messed with mine until i got it the way i like it. on mine when you step on the pedal it gos.
