Ok. Help me out a little bit here... What exactly does it mean if one is hotter than the other?

Thumbs up Re: G16 stops running

We're making progress...
I picked up an ignition tester today and finally the kids drove it enough to make it fail. Hooked up the ignition tester and got no spark from the wire. Just for kicks, I hooked the wire back to the plug and it still wouldn't fire. I needed this since this is my first try with an ignition tester.

Tried a little later and still nothing.

Finally, after it cooled down enough, I got the tester to spark. Hooked the wire back to my plug and got the cart to run. So at this point I'm feeling pretty confident that I've found the problem.

Unless someone sees something wrong with what I've done, I'll order a new TCI by Tuesday.

HUGE THANKS to you guys for guiding me along!

I got this cart as a hunting cart and I wanted to learn more about small engines. So, I'm getting my education...

Mr. Block, you work on cars for a living, and I don't. Therefore I read everything that you type and try to retain as much as I can. When you suggest a certain procedure, weather you explain the reason why or not, I have found it beneficial to follow your instruction.

Therefore I always prefer the Masters watch what I say, and correct me if I ever start off in the wrong direction. I for one am happy you guys hang out here for a few minutes every day. Thanks!! -- PS. Even if I do give you a hard time every chance I get!!

And Back, I hope what ever you did, fixed it!! I guess not. But it looks good anyway! I think you do need the TDI. Unless someone comes in here and tells you something different!

Is there anything besides the ignition coil that needs to be ordered?

I would also put a cigerete lighter in, for emergency, to start a fire if ever stranded. Never know what might happen!!

gonna go look for cdi

Only thing I can find, is an "ignition relay" for a 16. I don't know if that is the whole, (what I call the igniter) ignition module for a G16. Someone will come in here and help you that knows!

If when you do start hunting, if your alone, I would make sure I have a very good battery in my car as well. Personally, I have the same battery in my golf car that I have in my pick-up, so I can switch any time a problem might arise!

Yep, the coil is the TCI on all Yamaha's G16 and up. Part # JN6-85640-01-00.

The part (TCI ignition coil - JN6-85640-01-00) arrived on Thursday. I finally had time to get to the install today.
It went pretty smooth. The install took a little over an hour.

So far so good. The yami runs good after install. I won't know for sure until it is put to the test over time.

I wanted to thank you guys - block and mike especially - for walking me through the troubleshooting!!!!

I'll update in a few days and let you know if this did the trick.
