What do I do next for an improvement...
I got me a 1982 G1 last week, and I do not think anything has really been done to this cart over the years.
Here is a list of the things I have done in the past few days: Cleaned fuel system, spark plug, and tidy up the wiring (loose connections) Repaired carburator (throttle shaft needed upper bushing) Muffler BBQ (I about melted myself on that one) Wired the butterfly open in the exhaust Drilled out Governer arm (that was a good trick) I am going to do away with oil injection and pre-mix. (Thanks for all the good advice on these issues ) Where do I go next? Should I go ahead and replace the crankshaft seals? What about the drive belt and spring? Is there a Wiki on these older carts that has a laundry list of 'to dos'? All this is new to me. The cart seems to be running pretty good overall. It does seem to stall when I am running all out (on the flat). It is not really noticable, but it is there (a little chuga-chuga). Also when I am going up a hill (there are a lot of hills out where I live), it will almost come to a complete stop. Then the rpm ramps up and it will go for a little way until it almost stops. It will repeat this until you get to the top. I went up a long steep hill yesterday (dirt road). This hill is about 1/4 mile on each side. I made it to the top and over, but it was doing that kind of 'crawl'. Is that a clutch issue? I am really green when it comes to small engines (generators, lawn mowers, and log splitters are what I have limited experience in). I used to have a nice fancy Polaris 4 wheeler, but I had to sell it. I got the cart hoping to use it around the place for chores, mail runs, and trash detail. The mail and the trash are on the other side of that big hill though. Any advice would be greatly apprecieated. Thanks, Kevin |

Maybe the secondary Dixie torque spring. I find that I can keep my engine at lower rpm's and crawl over anything. I can rpm up if I need it from this crawl if I need too.

It sounds as if when running flat out or up a hill where max power is needed that you are running out of gas. If you can find the specs for the fuel pump i would check that for the correct amount of fuel flow. Carb adjustments set too lean and float height too high could also contribute to the symptoms you describe.
