Rattling noise coming from rear end 96 g16
I broke the shaft in my transaxle that the forward and reverse gears ride on. I was told this is very rare but some how I managed to do it. Anyway I replaced the shaft and after getting everything back together, I have a serious rattling noise going on. The cart drives and shifts fine but that noise is killing me, it gets louder the more I rev the engine. I have a theory that I messed up something with the governor, let me explain why. The night before I broke the shaft, I cranked down on my speed spring, I'm thinking to much and this caused something to break inside, fall into the gears, jamming them up and causing the shaft to snap. It seems like the noise is coming from the governor area but I can't tell what's broke, the fork looks ok but I wonder about the part that goes in front of the weights, it looks like a bunch of washers rattling around. I think this might be what broke but I'm not sure what it should look like. I was going to remove all the governor parts but they don't seem to be able to be removed from the input shaft. If anyone has any ideas or advice I could really use the help, I've torn the rearend apart and put it back together enough already, I need to figure this out.

Check the forward/reverse connection back at the axle. The cables may need to be adjusted. Meaning it is not going into forward all the way and gears are slipping at high rpm. I had this happen to me on my G16. Sounded like the engine was going to come apart but it was the selector on the axle not allowing it to completely go into forward. WD40 and cable adjustment back at the axle and selector corrected it.

Monsters, I'll take all the help I can get. Do any of you guys remember if you were getting the rattling noise in neutral, because I am. I would think if that were my problem I would not get any noise in neutral, I have the back diff cover off and can clearly see it's In neutral and not engaging any gears. Since I have it open I'll look to make sure it's engaging in forward and reverse all the way.

Well it appears to be going completely into gear, both forward and reverse. Removed the governor parts off the input shaft and it's still rattling, so it wasn't what I thought it might be. I'm totally stumped at this time.
