Re: Any common valvetrain issues with a G14?
Smallblock's speed spring is safer. But you can go the direct cable route, but doing so can cause the motor to go BOOM! I don't run mine at "wide open throttle" for more than about 7 or 8 seconds. Also I have mine set so the throttle won't open all the way, it will do about 26 mph-GPS. Will it go faster? Yes, but only for a few seconds,(if I re position the throttle pedal) so what's the use? Mine can cruse about 22/23 mph. comfortably.
Hope this helps, Mike Anyway, glad you got it running!! |

Re: Any common valvetrain issues with a G14?
Thanks dude...that was what I was figuring. I am still amazed at how great it runs! It really scoots to. I need to grab my GPS but I am guessing it is running about 25mph at WOT.
I installed the cable direct tonight and adjusted it for WOT. It is plenty fast...almost a little too fast, especially as the front end is a little shaky I have the #2 cable on order....when it gets here, I think I will install it and if I don't like it with the power spring, I will roll the dice and go back to the #1 direct setup. If the engine blows.....she'll get a big block. Finally I have wrapped up a lot of loose ends on it. Little stuff like the battery hold down, beverage holder (IMPORTANT! LOL), etc. The beverage holder was missing when I bought it and I bought a new one for like $9 (deal). Strange as the holder has four drink ports but two were a larger diameter than the cart holes....nothing a little knife work couldn't take care of. Fits perfectly now . I gave it a good bath & scrub today and it shined up pretty good for an old stock cart. Once it gets a lift, some tires and paint, and some tube bumpers, it'll be pretty sweet! I have always wanted a "fun" cart like this and finally the stars aligned and I've been able to afford it. This is great! I appreciate everyone's help and input! Here are a few before and after pics...more to come: As it arrived... And after about an hour of scrubbing and power washing....she is all clean, inside and out: |
