Default 1983 Yamaha G1 won't turn over

Have a 1983 Yamaha G1 I am working on. Friend replaced both solenoids, nothing. Someone told him delay relay was bad, by passed it and nothing. I have checked all the fuses, good. Power going to the generator but no power at the solenoids. Someone rigged a by pass switch and toggles for forward and reverse. Not very good with wiring, any suggestions.

Suggest reading the sticky "so your yami wont turn over". If you have positive voltage at f2 on the generator but not at the solenoids, first check to see if you have positive voltage at f1. If no voltage you have an open in the field winding of the generator and you will need to get it repaired. Download the wiring diagram from yamahagolfcar.com, its in the owners manual and use it as a guide to systematicaly check for voltages. The ignition key needs to be on, the stop switch under the gas pedal needs to be closed, the relay needs to be on (turned on by closing the stop switch) then power is supplied to the solenoid which needs to turn on, completing a path to ground for the armature. The unactivated solenoid provides positive voltage to the armature if the field winding and connections along the way are good.
