G16A Rebuild
This is a great forum!
Lurked in here for a long time, got a lot of great information and because I'm just sitting here waiting for parts thought I'd share what I've been doing. Second time around for my cart rebuild, first time was lift kit, wheels-tires and secondary clutch upgrade. Over the past 7 years the cart has seen alot of miles/hills in getting me around motocross tracks in the midwest and started to burn oil until it finally became a distraction (mosquito fogger is not exactly the right term-more like a diesel electric locomotive taking off on an incline). The cart started out white in 2004 when I bought it, rattle canned it black (masking tape body on job with little or no sanding) - this time I'm still going to rattle can it but due to the scratches from tree branches/stumps rut scrapes which broke loose just about every plastic rivet it was pretty much a complete tear down. King pin rebuild-rewire-relube/clean/replace what cables need done. I'm really quite impressed at how well the cart has held up knowing the mud holes/hills/collisions it's had.... I asked her to Dance and she thought I said she looked fat in those pants, That's how the fight started! |

Re: G16A Rebuild
Thanks for the greetings guys!
Flintrock the cylinder pics are before actually, just wiped it out with a shop towel, there is just a little slack in the piston and was going to just replace the rings while I have this thing out and have since decided to go ahead and replace piston/pin/rings while it is out - I had run Seafoam through the engine prior to taking it out (got her real warm - changed oil - got it hot again and then dumped the oil). Pretty sure the enviro police saw that cloud! Just a couple carbon flakes were on top of the piston when I took the head off. Pretty sure my problem was the intake valve even though they weren't real pitted, cleaned up the valves and lapped them, will replace the intake seal when I get it - heard both ways on putting a seal on the exhaust valve (it will not get one) - will put all new gaskets/seals from the carb to and including the clutch. |
