Default ezgo electric golf cart

Got a 1987 electric four wheel marathon golf cart
was driving it and stopped to pick up something and it quit working lifted seat and the four wires to coil was hot.what could i do to get it running?

The solenoid has to close (click) for the cart to move, so we need to troubleshoot it first.

Here's a schematic of a resistor cart with the solenoid activation circuit traced.

JohnnieB, this diagram doesn't look like my Golf cart, the battery's are not in like that, does that matter? And what need to trace for or check first?

The batteries are for illustrative purposes to demonstrate the neg to pos. Trace the red line to make sure the voltage is getting to the solenoid. Make sure there are no problems in the way.
This test will use a digital voltmeter. One from an auto place in shrink wrap will do "johnnieb"

It's just easier to see laid out that way. Electrically, your cart is the same or close to it.

Here are a couple of wiring diagrams, one of them should match the physical battery layout in your cart.

Like Taykol said, trace out the highlight lines. There is a bad switch, connector or wire in there someplace.

Thanks, the last two look like my golf cart diagram, will check it out and let you know if that's the problem, It will be Saturday 11/17/12 before I can check it, truck driver here, again Thanks, hope it's my problem, if not let you know!

Found the problem, the wire going from one of the Micro Switch to the the F & R box to the motor was burn in to! Thanks for the wiring diagrams JohnnieB, they help a lot! Took me a few hours to check things, and it was the last thing I check was the problem, again Thanks!!!!!

It always is.

Glad you got it going.

BTW - I ground a few gears in a conventional cab Pete back in the late 60's. (Hauling oilfield stuff on OK and TX)
