carb butterfly gone
Yesterday while riding the cart suddenly went full throttle only. Knew something was wrong immediately and headed back to the office. Checked everything out today, nothing amiss, so I remove the carb and there is no butterfly. So I look at a pic on the net just to make sure it had one in the first place. So now my question is, where did it go. I cant see it in the head, but not investigated that thoroughly. Thanks, waiting for some replies. By the way its a 93 model

Re: carb butterfly gone
Don't run the cart until you can confirm... possibly the screw came loose and the screw and butterfly were sucked down the intake. I think the head will have to be removed ?

Re: carb butterfly gone
Scotty is absolutely right!
If your lucky, the butterfly is wedged in the intake, BUT... if the screws aren't still on the shaft, they will play havoc with the head, piston and cylinder walls! and if you run it that way for any period of time, the engine may not be rebuildable! Note: You might as well order a new carburetor right away, trying to repair the existing one may not work! Here's a pic of a buddies 94... we never did find the other half: 052.JPG |

Re: carb butterfly gone
The screws are still in the shaft but the whole butterfly is gone and must be in the head. There's no way it could make it to the piston right. The 2 halves have to be laying inside the head?

Re: carb butterfly gone
Pull it apart and look for the pieces but they very well may have gone through the engine.
