The controller contains a dozen or so MOSFETs that are switched on and off about 18,000 times a second and generate a lot of electrical noise (RFI/EMI), so there are a bunch of filter capacitors in the controller to prevent them from disrupting the operation of all electronic gadgets in the vicinity. Speaking of that, we're training a new puppy and she's had to wear a wireless fence collar (base station transmits a signal, the collar beeps as you get near the perimeter, and it shocks if you go further). She was beside the cart and as I started to move the collar immediately starting shocking her! We were adjacent to the house, well within the usual boundary. Now she won't go near the golf cart!
