Default I want to start buggy in Neutral.

Hey guys. I might be reaching here, or maybe someone has posted this and I'm just to dumb to find it, but.......

Has anybody every tried to rewire their gas Club Car to start and run the engine while the shifter is in neutral? I'm thinking this would be very handy on a cold morning. I mainly use my rig for hunting and I think it would be handy to have this feature to warm up the motor without having to drive around. Any thought?

TSB... Is this for your 08 XRT850?

I was going to suggest putting it in maintenance mode, but, if i recall, your F/N/R shifter is on the dash, so I'm not exactly sure how to do it!

There has to be a switch or something somewhere on your cart to change it from service mode, to maintenance mode,
so you can run the engine in neutral to warm it up during the winter! (at least that's what I do on my DS!)

First off, thanks for replying. Yes this is for the 08 XRT850. There is a maint. switch under the seat. I haven't tried that. I will. Yes the shifter is on the dash. I was trying to wrap my head around possibly putting a jumper from the micro switch (if there is one) to the neutral position to trick the buggy to think its in gear. But I'll try the maint. switch first. For some reason I was thinking I tried that one time and it did not run but I could be mistaken. It would only be common since that it would allow you to run the motor with the switch in the maint. position. I'll give it a try and get back to ya.

Just a reminder... it won't stay running when you let off the go pedal,
Before I set my cart up to idle, I had to prop something on the go pedal for it to stay running!

It didn't work. Switch it to maint. and it kills the whole system. I guess so it won't run while you have your digits all up in the motor.

Hey tx,
I just talked with an owner of an 09 XRT850 here at my campground about your situation,
he never thought about it, or even tried it!
he put his cart in neutral, flipped the switch to maintenance, and it started right up!

His and my guess is to switch it to maintenance, put it it neutral, and maybe jiggle the shifter a little to see if it starts!

Just thought I'd try to help, and learn at the same time!
