Default Steering issue 98 txt

Was out on the farm this evening on the cart when I lost my steering.
a couple years ago I replaced the rack because it was worn in the middle.
I can turn right but it just spins free to the left until it stops. if I kick the tires back to the left I can again turn them right. this makes me think the rack is still good and something else in there is going on... anyone ever run into this? where can I get an exploded view of the steering box?

Sounds like some teeth are missing on the rack. When you turn past the teeth there is nothing to grip to so it just turns until you turn the tires which pushes the rack back enough to catch the teeth.

no but thanks for the replies. there is no dead spot on the rack that is just the common answer. I just looked under there and it looks like 25 or 26 came detached from the rack from what I can see and feel, if pushed all the way in the rck can push i back out but can't pull it because it came disconnected

Your first post said it had a dead spot and if you kicked the tire it turned right again.

Pull #24 and you should see obvious wear.

no... steering arm pulls against the ball joint when he turns right , and there is nothing to allow it to go left

I may not have explained the problem very well and i apologize but you are correct dummy. The ball joint connected to the rack came loose from the rack. #25 and 26. How is that attached is it screwed into the end of the rack? Have north had a chance to look at it other than identifying that out is the problem.
