Different voltage on battery bank and solenoid?
I have an electric conversion on a John Deere Gator,
I have hey 48 volt LiPo battery Bank which is powered to solar charge controller For some reason when I checked the voltage of the battery I read 54 volts but when I check the voltage across the two large studs of my solenoid I see 0 volts I'm not sure why there is a difference, the only thing I could think of is whether the solar panel is somehow not charging the battery bank but I can't seem to understand why it would show 54 volts if it was dead |

Re: Different voltage on battery bank and solenoid?
If the solenoid is closed there will be zero voltage drop across the large studs.
Try measuring this way: Put the negative (black) lead of your voltmeter on B- and leave it there. Use the positive lead (red) to read the voltage on one of the large studs. Use the positive lead to read the voltage on the other large stud. When you measure "across" the two large studs, you are measuring the DIFFERENCE in voltage between the studs. If they are both at 54 volts then the difference is zero. |
