Default Grinding noise only when coasting?

I have a 2005 Carry All, with a 90 day return option still in effect. Overall, the car is good, but I notice when coasting I hear a grinding/scraping noise in the rear. It only happens when the motor is OFF and when coasting. Is this normal or a problem? I'd like to find out while I still have the option to return it!

Welcome to BGW gopher!

In most cases, coasting down a hill with the engine shut down will cause a whining noise,
and it's sometimes considered a "grinding" noise if your not familiar with it.
You might want to try another CC cart to see if they're the same type noise!

What about the same noise while power is on and coasting?

And welcome to you also will1546!

If your coasting down a hill at a good clip, and your engine is off, or on... (even at somewhat more then an idle)
the transaxle (rear end) will make a grinding/whining noise... it's completely normal, and will have no ill effect on it!

however... if it grinds or whines while accelerating UP a hill... that's totally a different story!
