Default 1985 muffler replacement

My 1985 2-cycle needs a new muffler. My buddy suggests I rig with a tractor supply generic, but I believe the original design (yikes pricey) is important for the application and should be the only option for replacement.

Yeah or neahs?

Well it is true the two stroke engine does need a tuned exhaust pipe as shown in this graphic.

However what difference this makes on a stock 9hp engine is a moot point. I know that the EZGO exhaust system is $$$$$$ so I would base my decision on the cost. If I could find one to fit I think that I would give it a try and see.
