Re: Motor heat
You are looking for the highest temperature the case climbs to.
Check several times immediately after a hard run to see what it goes up to. After a few test runs, you'll probably have an idea about how long the temperature of your specific motor in your specific cart continues to rise. My motor in my cart continues to rise for about 10 minutes, but all carts and all motors are probably different. |

Re: Motor heat
OK, I got some "Tela-Temp" tape. I got three differnt ones.
The little one on the right gives current temp. (if it's in the range) The other ones "blacks" out when it gets to the temp and stays black forever. I installed two on the case side and two on the end. I will do some testing and report back in a day or two. |

Re: Motor heat
So I ran the cart at full speed for two miles. The motor was hot to the touch as before, but the temp tape didn't show anything. I think the low indecator is 190F, so I guess it's not that hot. I'm going to try a longer run soon.

Re: Motor heat
190 on the outside is pretty hot. Get yourself an infrared thermometer. They are cheap and they work great. Just point and shoot.

Re: Motor heat
I don't know if I stated that clearly. The indicator did not show anything. So the the temp was less than 190. How much less, I don't know. But it was hot to the touch.

Re: Motor heat

Re: Motor heat
He got the tape so that he wouldn't have to hang out with the motor for like 20 mins after he stopped to see what it went to. If tape discolor you know you got at least to X temperature but below Y. But if none of them change then you never know what temp you are.

Re: Motor heat
As I understand it, 239 is the limit for the case temp. So if it never goes above 190, do I really care what it is?
In any case, the tape that shows current temp goes lower, but I have to hang around to see it, just like the IR gun. |
