The SPM was the first model with a cooling fan. To test fan you must have the keyswitch on... won't work on the 5v program cable supply

Yes - I forgot about that. You need the key switch on to do the fan test.

The USB probably only powers up the processor - can't draw more than 500mA anyway based on USB spec. Fan must be powered from a reduced version of the main voltage.

If it's powered from a reduced version it would be awsome if they built a reducer into it so that you could power a radio off oF it or something

I had same question and called alltrax they said it comes on at 70% throttle and on a thermostat. I just added mine on from scottyb as well. I have drove mine around alot and never had it kick on. Throttle up a few times and will hear it running even when I come to a stop for a while. I assume till the temp drops
