The Reed Switch is the disable feature that was designed into the cart. You can design something else but to make it kid proof isn't easy.

So what kind of setup do the newer 2006 and above carts use. Something built into the 48v charge recepticle?

the newer setup they are talking about is for 48v txt, not compatible with 36v. im thinking you could modify the charge port with a microswitch as used on the txt F&R switch, it has a roller wheel on the activation lever. heres the idea. drill a hole in the charge port big enough to allow the switches "wheel" to drop into. make a bracket from something found in the junk pile (or found at the hardware store if you have to) to mount the switch. i would mount the bracket to the charge port with a good dose of 5-minute epoxy, stuff is great, so is jb weld. the idea is for the chargers handle to press the roller wheel to operate the switch when the charger is plugged in (switch has terminals for "press for ON" and "press for OFF"). the switch is mechanical instead of magnetic in a glass tube.

yep, at least get them to do some extra stuff for their cart privileges, since its costing you $$.

Mine is modified to 48v. Do the newer ones use a micro switch?

hey,

no they dont, the shutoff is built in the on board computer so it knows when the handle is plugged in and when its not....unless on that rare occasion the computer fails and keeps it shut off

but no as you mentioned before, the newer 48 volts have wires to the controller for charger activation. but like cgtech was saying, you may have to improvise a shut off of your own with a microswitch
