SOC = State of Charge or capacity.

The Lester charger You linked I think only charges once a month while plugged in.

The charge once every 30 days is the recommendation of the BCI (Battery Council International) for Lead Acid Batteries.

The OBC charging every 15 days is more than adequate for keeping the batteries health while parked/storage.

If you want to get the best performance out of the batteries before driving, starting a new charge cycle before riding is the way to go.

If You leave your battery pack on a "float" charger for 25 days, it will not perform as good as a freshly charged pack.

Get a DPI smart charger or at the very least a battery minder that will keep a float charge while you are away.
But again, like Sergio said, nothing beats a fresh charge!

Nothing like a fresh charge. When ever you arrive to camp or wherever you store it . Go ahead unplug it and plug back in. Go in pack change eat get ready or do whatever you need then come back unplug and roll out

The thing is, my use hasn't changed at all, but my runtimes have. We've had the cart since October of 2015, kept it in the garage, on the charger when not running, and run it, on average, once a month since then. I used to get 14+ miles out of it and now I am lucky to get 6.

Something seems to have changed.

You need to check the batteries after the 6 miles of use if you think you have a problem.
If you have an issue it will show up then. Batteries fail in two ways, Inability to take a charge or inability to hold a charge.

I agree that it is hard on batteries to have them sit and get used once a month. Good chance range would improve if they were cycled a few times.

The six mile ride we literally limped into the driveway at the end. I realize this isn't good for the cart but with the kids riding with us getting them home and not having to hoof it is more important to me.

Remember.....if the temp's were cooler, that will have an effect on batteries and an effect on your ride length. In the summer when fully charged my cart will go 12 miles. In the winter when it's 18 degrees, the cart my make it 6 miles.

yeah we don't really have "winter" or "cold". We have hot, and slightly less hot.

Kids were in the un-heated pool on Xmas day, for example.

Have you check to make sure your brakes aren't dragging? check the air in the tires? check the front end alignment? I don't think any of these would cost you 8 miles of range, but it could cost some.
