Default Removing Axle

Guy brought me an electric cart to fix noise in left hub. I removed wheel and hub had been welded to axle. Seems threads were bad and now he wants all that fixed. I had to grind off the end of the axle to get down to the hub so it would come off. Now I have to get the axle out. Anybody got any ideas. I have tried vice grips locked on the spline but they wont stay. Is there any drill bits that will drill the end of the axle? Then I will have to thread the hole to get a slide hammer on it. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Are we to assume you have removed the retainer clip? Post a picture of what is left to work with - I have an idea but need to see

Do you have a welder?
Are any threads left on the axle?

No welder but I have been looking. No threads left. About an inch and a half of spline sticking out.

Ouch - Maybe you can drop the pan and drive or pry the axle out from the middle?

I did drop the pan and no way to get to it. I think I will get me a welder and go that route. Thanks for the help.

sounds like a good excuse to get you a welder
Tack a slide hammer affair on there. Don't have to be fancy.
Even a small length rod with a stop welded on and using the old drum as a slide hammer will do.
You will need new seals and bearings, along with the axles and drums

Drill and tap the end of the axle for a slide hammer? Not sure how hard axles are.
