Help I added magnet to IQ Club Car but speed did not change
I have a 2008 Club Car President with new batteries. I changed the magnet with the hope of a speed increase. Speed before and after is 15.9 MPH. Can anyone tell me why magnet change did not help. I unplugged speed sensor and safe mode was 7 MPH.

Did you change the magnet to a 4 pole speed magnet. You're not quite clear on what you changed.

If the serial number starts with PH the magnet will not work. A PH serial number indicates an Excel cart and, as Nole said, the magnet won't work on them.

Re: Help I added magnet to IQ Club Car but speed did not change
The Controller has no way to know how many poles are in the magnet so if it was able to regulate the speed at 15mph, you installed another regular magnet instead of a 4 pole.
The Excel cart would have bucked and surged with a speed magnet installed. |

Re: Help I added magnet to IQ Club Car but speed did not change
The serial number is a PQ. The controller is a Curtis 250 amp Model 5510A-5251. I put a two magnet disk in and no change in speed. I took the original disk and tried to cut two magnets off. It broke and only one magnet left. I put the one magnet disk in and no change in speed. Suggestions?

You say cut two magnets off. I took the one out of my bandit motor and looked at it. Plum Quick doesn't cut them off they grind them off. Go big and buy a 4 pole magnet.

I think your are mixing poles and pulses.
The standard magnet has 8 poles (4 pairs of N/S) and generates 4 pulses per revolution. The speed magnet has 4 poles (2 pairs of N/S) and generates 2 pulses per revolution. |

Re: Help I added magnet to IQ Club Car but speed did not change
Awfully sorry for using the wrong term. The standard disk is four magnets. I installed a two magnet disk and then a one magnet disk. The results are kind of the same.
