Default 2005 TXT PDS Rear End Noise

I have some noise when not on the accelerator pedal. Its an older cart and I get that. I haven't checked the diff fluid yet though.

What gear oil do I need? Synthetic? I saw a suggestion for mixing Lucas oil stabilizer 50/50....is that ok?

I've heard that noise in similar dana diffs do that, and a lot of times it's the spider gears and the pin that goes through them when they get some wear in them. I had a Chevy Blazer one time that the bolt holding the pin sheared off and the pin was spinning in the hole. It wore a ring in it and I like to never have gotten it out to change it. It will run a long time like that though.

Would some new gear oil quiet things down?

Not much, in my case. Mine is quiet when applying power, uphill or accelerating, or just going steady. Once I start coasting, it makes a whining kind of noise. I replaced all bearings and seals, and replaced oil with a few ounces of STP. I placed a magnet in the oil I drained, but didn't see anything besides a small amount of very fine metal shavings, which is about what I would expect. There's no adjusting the gear lash, so we're stuck with old, tired groaning, kinda like our bodies.

An old used car trick would probably work. Fine saw dust would quiet things down quite a bit.

Hey as long as its "ok" I'm good with that. I did see some mud spashed up under the body after we got it. I hoping I don't have chocolate milk in the diff housing....
