If you have about 20' of high current cables in your cart, with 6Ga cables you lose about 79W/100A, with 4Ga it's about 50W/100A and with 2Ga it's about 31W/100A.

However, the biggy is going from OEM cables that are more than a year or two old to new, high quality, 4GA or 2Ga cables, or thicker if controller throughput is over about 500A.

My first very upgrade was going to 2Ga cables in an otherwise stock, 3 year old 36V PDS and I got a seat of the pants increase in acceleration.
hey Johnnie...recommended best source for 2ga cable set?

Here is where I got my cables: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-cables.html

Silver soldered ring terminals and hermetically sealed.

2) more questions:

A) old PDS 36volt - 2ga gonna make a difference on being able to sustain speeds on the road on inclines? I've got plenty of low end torque now...I'm chasing the ability to hold speed on a hill...ie 15mph cruising down my 2 lane..and we hit even a mild hill and speed drops significantly..down to maybe 10 at best...

and.. I have to beg the obvious question...what am I getting for $200 that I can't get from the cheapos on amazon for a $100ish less?

I need some information about your cart to answer the questions and the answers are going to be long ones, so please start a new thread instead of hijacking this one.

Info needed in first post of new thread.
Tire height?
Which PDS plug installed in J2?
Rear Seat?
What is resting battery pack voltage.
What is battery pack voltage at top speed on level pavement?
What is battery pack voltage while climbing the hill that slows cart to 10MPH?

Thanks for the input and discussion. I was looking at Scotty B page and just confused as what to buy. I currently have a stock motor and controller. What cables need upgrading. I am assuming all the cables running to each batter and the negative and positive coming to and from controller?

Running stock cables from what I can tell- 6 gauge. Just trying to determine what cables I need to upgrade.

All ten of them.
The two 8 or 10 Ga to the motor's Field windings are adequate.

Scotty sells a full kit and all the info you need is on his site. 5-10 minutes reading and you will know what to order.

For clarity, are you saying you don’t have to upgrade all the wires to see an improvement vs “you’re only as fast as the slowest horse.”

In laymen’s term a relay race vs a stage coach team. In one the finish time is lessen, while the other will be fixed.
