Default Series with PDS Electrics ?

Cruising the cart sale ads and came across this:

Owner says it's a 1998. They can't get it to run.
Maybe they have a custom F/R switch setup.
Wish they included a pic of the backside of the
F/R switch. Has a regen motor from 2018.
Anyone ever seen a PDS with a Series F/R switch ?

I don't see the series FNR. Maybe a DCS? Mix and match batteries and cables. Assume both need replacing if/when negotiating, as both indicate lack of proper maintenance.

The D&D motor is a really good aftermarket motor.
From the pictures, it appears to have a regular FNR selector. The switch on the controller cover is a "run/tow" switch.

Definitely you will want to put in a matched set of high voltage cables.

You have a DCS drive and all of them had a F/R lever by the driver's knee like series drive carts did.

The PDS drive wasn't introduced until model year2000 and for the first few months of production, they also had the F/R lever next to driver's knee, then they when to the dash mounted rocker switch.

Between the DCS and PDS there were four different F/R switch configurations, three with lever by driver's knee and one dash mounted rocker switch.

The DCS was EZGO's first attempt at a SepEX (Separately Excited) drive and the controller was a failed design (no under voltage protection) and the DCS was only produced from 1995 to 1999. With an aftermarket controller, they are good carts.

The D&D motor (170-502-0001) is standard speed/High torque (+40%), so it most definitely has the ability to drop the battery pack voltage into an under voltage level and take out the stock DCS controller. So I suspect the cart needs a controller to get it running.

-----------
Since the D&D motor has a speed sensor, it might be an idea to install the PDS version of the Alltrax XCT controller and rewire the cart so it could be used. The PDS version of the XCT has better performance than the DCS version due to the field mapping and some other stuff being influenced by motor RPM.

Ticking time bomb. Bunch of BS mixed batteries, garbage cables, huge motor, all with the stock controller. If the controller isn't already blown, it won't last 4 months.

If you do buy it, do so knowing a controller, solenoid, batteries, cables, and digital volt meter are needed. New batteries could be 8 volters, so if you can buy it for a few hundred bucks, it might be worth it. What condition is the body in? Do you want it street legal? Plan on new brakes, since they're 21 years old, as well as steering, suspension, battery tray (corrosion), etc.

Talking Re: Series with PDS Electrics ?

These are my cart dreams! Somebody who has no clue about them and put nice parts together but can't make it run. I'd buy it in a second heck the motor is worth his asking price I bet!
With a little work it could be a nice cart.
Buy it man!

I answered a guy's craiglist add a year ago. Said nice Ezgo PDS want run. Has charger $500.00!
I went and looked at it and it was like new but they had bought 2 - 8 volt batteries and had them with the 6 volts. He said something was wrong with it. I told him it had 2 wrong batteries and if he swapped them out it would be fine. He looks at me and says do you not want it... I handed him $500.00 took it home put the 2 batteries in it and sold it for $2400.00. I tried to tell him, he didn't want to hear it.

No go, firm on his $1200 price.
Not even anywhere near ready to haggle,
"spring is coming".

That seat better be comfortable.

I'd only bite to flip, but not enough meat left on
the bone even @ $700-900 for that age of a cart with
decent body but vintage tires and wheels.
