Default 2015 RXV Issues

I was hooking up a light harness with that included a horn to my cart. I decided to try to strip the wires on the plug next to the key switch and connect it there. The lights worked fine but the horn didn’t. I heard high pitched buzzing but after trying the horn several times the sound went away and the cart no longer works. I’m worried it’s the motor controller but don’t know how to test that without buying a diagnostic tool. I have tested the resistor and electric brake motor and they test fine. The lights also still work fine. When I push on the accelerator nothing happens and when I put it into tow I get a click of the brake releasing but then I hear a second click several seconds later of it locking up again. The brake will release using the alternate method under the run/tow switch.

Start by checking the Brake, Throttle and Motor Speed sensors. You might have blown these along with the controller.

Here is a trouble shooting guide if you don't have one.

You just learned why you don't mess with the keyswitch on a Rxv. You just fried your controller.

First off, flip it to Tow. Unhook what you did and then check the fuses on the front of the controller cover. You may have gotten lucky and it just blew a fuse..

Checked both inline fuses and they are both good. I’m almost at the point where I’m going to take it into the dealer to run the diagnostic on it but I was hoping I could just test it myself in case it wasn’t the case. Also what are the opinions on doing a trade in for the controller such as https://www.shop.fsip.biz/en/product...NAVRXVKIT-CURT
