Dabble - Thanks for the tank info. My gas tank has a solid non-removable outlet. Any way to check the line? I think I'll replace the outside line to the pump. It is 2 parts rubber and the middle is metal. Could be getting choked off there.
It might look non-removable but I'm like 99.999% sure it is, but I see you've discovered bad crankcase seals anyway so I wouldn't bother with the fuel pickup tube at this time. Good Luck

So frustrating!! I replaced the seal and got the engine back in and no change!! It seems to be pumping a little more gas than before, wants to fire every once in a while but that's it...help!!!

How much play should the crankshaft have? Could this be my issue?

There shouldn't be any play. Did you change both seals?

No, I only did the flywheel side. I could see the clutch side looked good.

There's some movement in the shafts. Replace the bearings?

You definitely need to change the other seal. The bearings are a judgement call. How much movement is there, and how much work do you want to put into it? You should be getting pretty good at pulling the engine out by now.

There are three bearings in there. You need to separate the case. If it needs a rod bearing, you may as well put it back together and drive it until it dies. Crankshafts aren't available anymore.
