Exclamation New to buggie world. Received 1983 ezgo cart for $100

Hello I'm new to this forum and new to buggie world. I received a 1983 ezgo for $100. As you can assume not in great condition. Apparently has sat in the desert yard for over 6 years. It is a gas cart but I know little about it. There seems to be no add-ons that I know of.

Battery is shot so I jumped it with my truck. After about 15 min (even with key off) I was able to flick what would seem to be a power switch and press the gas pedal and the motor cranked but would not start. I did notice that gas tank has seriously bad gas so I pulled the tank and currently am waiting for it to dry out. After about an hour of cranking and trying different things still will not start. Now I don't even get a click or crank. Could it be starter or what other issue could possibly gone wrong.

Obviously tires need replaced. Seat needs replaced cross member that was holding fuel line needs rewelded and it needs paint but none of those will happen unless I can get it to start and move on its own.

Any help would be appreciated

If you post your technical question in the EZ GO Gas section you will get help. Post as much info you can and add photos.

Congrats on the new ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives’, husbands, girlfriend’s and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

You most likely blew the fuse. I believe yours is located in the forward reverse switch. Look for a round black plastic cap. Some are in line with a fuse holder between the solenoid and key switch.

Take apart both the fuel pump and carburetor for a good cleaning.

EDIT: Removed link for wrong manual.

Use the 85 manual in the link. Your muffler is different.

You also need to do a compression check.

Be glad it didn't run on old gas. You need to mix fresh 128:1. Don't run it without oil in the gas.

When it's cranking again, you need to check for spark too.

That link is for a 3pg. The 85 pdf below is what you want.
