Default 2005 txt ezgo electrical problem

Have a 2005 ezgo txt cart that is pulling full voltage even when the key is turned off. Could this issue be the resistor is bad or do I need to look for other problems. I'm new to electric carts.

Thanks Nitris.

A 2005 wont have resistors. (it might have a small one on the solenoid but not like your thinking.) Do you hear the solenoid clicking when you push the pedal?

large arc when you try to attach the battery up, only get that far. Any idea why I'm pulling when power should be off?

Something is not wired properly, wire shorted, solenoid staying engaged. Download a manual from the stickies or locate the wiring diagrams in the stickies and go over your wiring real good...at least twice, if not more.

Odd thing is it was running fine no problems until the other day started getting slow and week, good batteries, thought it was corroded so clean cables and placed back and this happens. Nothing other than removing battery cables and returning them was done.

Always go back to the last thing you did...in this case, removing the cables. Are the batts wired right? An arc, besides a potential KA-BOOM factor, indicates a direct short. Be careful!

All wiring from batteries correct. Positive to negative/positive to negative...etc... What is the resistor on the coil for?

The resistor installed across the big terminals
on the contactor, pre-charges the filter capacitors in
the controller. This minimizes the voltage across the
contactor to reduce arcing on the contacts as they
close.

Coil? Maybe you mean solenoid? I am not familiar with a resistor on the solenoid, but I have seen diodes across them. Maybe your solenoid is shorted, a test with a VOM will tell you that. Hang in there, a more knowledgeable person will be along shortly (no pun intended)
