1984 Converter question

I did a search in this forum, and could not find the answer I was looking for so here goes.

I have a 1984 36v DS Club Car. Today I recieved the converter down to 12v, CC part # 102553102. I was told that I would have to cut some wires as this is for the newer carts with the wiring harness, but this was the best one the local store had found. I read the instructions, and for me, they are worthless.

I know where to connect all the wires but one. There is a white wire that says ENABLE. Is this a wire I use, or is it only for the newer carts?

After further reflection, the part # is 103700302. The part number above is for the whole kit, not just the converter.

I don't know anything about this unit! but a guess would be to the KEY SW that way when you turn on your buggie is the only time the unit is drawing power.

I don't recall Club Car making a voltage reducer for 36v carts ....... only for 48v carts? Is your converter a longish silver box by any chance?

The more I thought on it last night, that was the conclusion I came to as well.
But now which side to hook it into, the dead or the hot, or does it matter??

Yes it is, it has a harness on either end, one for input and one for output power, and it says on the unit 48/36v to 12v converter. It is the one made for the newer precedents, I just need to cut the plug in harness and put connectors on it to make it work with my older cart.

are you asking hot or ground or which side of the switch to hook it. I have not looked at the schematic for your cart, my switch has two wires I am guessing one is hot always (in run mode) and one is not. when the key is turned on then both are hot so you only want to run it when the key is on. Or you could have a switch on the dash to turn it on if you want to watch SAT TV or something.

Which side of the switch to hook it. By a strange coincidence, I spent five years installing SAT TV,, so trust me, I have absolutely no interest in that. I just wasn't sure which side of the switch to hook it into. I am assuming the hot when running side.

key switch hot when on, that sound good to me can't wast any power, I would love to have a big screen TV on mine.

Thanks for the info. I golf to get away from the D*** TV, but good luck with that. BTW, won't the wind resistance from the TV kill ur batteries? I know mine don't even like my hinged windshield. Besides, with all the twists n turns on a course, ur satellite dish will never stay aligned. Course I still have my meter, and for a "nominal fee", ahem ahem, I'll be happy to help you out there.
