Resistor coil to electric controller???

Can you take a controller out of a later model cart and put it in a resistor coil cart?? I have a parts cart available to me and I was wondering if you could do this cause I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on an upgrade.

You need to know if they are the same drive system (Series) and if the throttle input device can be swapped over too..... usually not as simple as the first impression but without know what cart you have and what cart you are asking about it is really not possible to give a yes or no answer.
