Default Voltage drop question

I just installed one of scottyb's digital voltage meters and it looks and performs great. Only I could not help but notice what appears to be a significant drop in voltage when I accelerate. About how much voltage drop is acceptable on a flat road with fully charged batterys (50.9v)? Is this a way of telling whether you have good batterys or not?

Totally NORMAL to see the voltage drop under load, in fact it's a diagnostic tool. My 48v pack will drop down to 44v on a climb or with 4 souls onboard. If a battery were "going down" this number would be much less all of a sudden.

the phenomena is called Coup De Fouet and is normal for lead acid batteries. the higher the load, the more pronounced and lengthy the drop.

That's some good information, Thanks. Also I guess if the voltage drops enough it could cause your stereo to fade out. I believe I read where others had that problem.
