Loss of reverse drive

I have a 2001 48V Club Car cart that has lost reverse movement. The solenoid is functional, all connections are secure.
Problem has been sporadic over the past couple of weeks, finally has totally died. A neighbor has suggested the onboard computer is probably the source of the problem. Can you affirm this possibility, or suggest a different approach.

OBC does not care if cart is going forward or reverse . . . I would check the F/R switch connections next and possibly reversing the wires there to see if reverse works in forward position . . . be prepared in case reverse takes off at full speed with wires switched . . .
