Why do cart manufactures continue to use 4x12 volt systems?
I continue to read that 6x8volt battery systems are much better than 4x12volt, so why do the manufacturers continue to use 4x12volt? I am curious as my CC uses 4x12 and as I need to buy batteries, should I go to the 6x8volt setup.

Economics. 4 batts are cheaper than 6 and weigh less.
They design the carts for a round of golf then recharge. We take these carts well beyond those limits. |

Do they still use them? I thought CC stopped in '09. Not sure, just what I thought.

RXV carts still use them but I did see one the other day where they installed the normal TXT rack for 6 batteries
As for cost, the last 12 volts I bought were $800 for the set. The 8 volt set was under $700 |

Re: Why do cart manufactures continue to use 4x12 volt systems?
I have a friend that manages a fleet of 70 Ezgo RXV's they are 3 years old and basically all need new batteries already. They can't make it past 18 holes. Many die on the course. Last fleet were club car with 6- 8 volt set up and they had no problem getting 36 holes between charges and the batteries didn't need to be replaced so soon.
