Lifted Cart steering is very sensitive and unpredictable

I bought a 2010 refurbished EZGO and it is lifted. I think cheap shackle lift. It is scary to drive at top speed due to the steering. It is very sensititve and unpredictable. What could it be?

Out of alignment? I just use a tape measure and measure the front and same point on the rear side front tire. Is everything tight?

Can you explain a little more what you are measuring from and to? ANd is it easy to adjust?

Imagine the tires are clocks. You have to clocks sitting on there edge with 6 oclock on the bottom. The clocks are the same width apart as the tire. Measure the width of 9 oclock/front of tire then measure 3 oclock width. The adjustment looks like a turnbuckle that ties the front steering arm/tires together. There is a nut you just loosen on both ends of the turnbuckle then you turn the turnbuckle to bring the tires in alignment/ basically same measurment. IE 34 1/4". I think the front is ok with a 1/8" toe in. Most tires have a center line or you can just find the center and mark with chalk? Just play around you will get it.

Anothe way is to jack up the front and spin the front tire while spraying it with paint. Then holding a nail in your hand continue to spin the tire and use the nail to make a thin line wihtout paint. Now, you have a true line that is square with your hubs. Tires can be off from true, but the hubs are what you need to adjust to. Then do like GaFamily said above. Measure the center to center distance at the front of the tires and again at the rear. You will want to do that part with the cart on the ground. Roll it back and forth a little first to make sure the suspension is sitting normally. You want the front of the tires to be a little closer together than the rear.

i have the economy 4 inch lift on mine , and at speeds over 28 , it was very unpredictable and touchy , I installed a stabalizer and it fixxed everything

Lifting often requires realignment of the front wheels. If they are not in proper alignment the cart will be very unstable to drive. You need a slight toe in on the front wheels for stability.

SportCoupe had a great picture showing a jig that is clamped to the front hubs to get accurate measurements for alignment. Looks easy enough for most to do with basic material. Still have the picture SportCoupe?
