Default Getting more hill climbing out of a G-1?

Just wondering how to make the g-1 pull steep hills better ? The governor is still hooked up but I was told it was screwed all the wy whatever that means.
It will pull my daughter and son right up steep wills but once you get my kids and my fat a$$ on it,it almost comes to a stop.
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Raz

BTw: I have a full machine shop so if it is something I could machine on the clutches that would be great !

You will need a heavier rear clutch spring. Here's the best way from one of the site sponsors.

As far as machining the sheave, how much need to be machined off the surface ? Does anyone have a stock sheave and a machined one that they could measure the difference with calipers ? Or see iff it is machined to the same surface as the inner seal surface ?
Thanks,
raz

I have no idea, but would guess that by the time you bought a new one figured out the measurement and machined yourself probably would not be enough of a savings to do yourself , when you could buy one already done.

The original sheave can be machined,it is just a stock sheave machined .So, I would not have to buy the sheave, just the spring.
Thanks,

Your original is more than likely worn out.
The kit comes with everything you will need. The puller, belt and clutches. You can purchase them separately by what you want. The clutch has a bushing also which will be worn out.
A new belt might help a little on low end with out the clutches.

I did notice that the ramp buttons are worn about half down which makes my gear ratio a little higher when it engages.I measured the belt and it is at new width but it is a gates belt and I am not sure if it is the right one or not.

Also, On the governor arm , the adjustment screw that pushed on the big spring.Does it need to be screwed all the way in or removed so the highest governed speed ?

screw the nut all the way in.
the machined sheave helps some. the spring is most important. you will see more difference from the spring than anything.
I have done the spring, machined sheaves, wound up the rear spring and stock. the white heavy duty spring made the most difference. Jakes machined sheaves along with his spring made it even better.
check your compression also. My G1 and my previous G1 were really powerful machines. My kids have had 6 of their friends on the cart plus them running full bore.
