MCOR 4 problems

I was discussing this with an Alltrax engineer today who said some of the trouble is the low strength of the wiper pads and that over time they tend to develop depressions where they are used most. So the sweet spot becomes the biotch spot. Makes sense

Wonder if they are still using the MCOR 4 for the newer models.

I was hoping to bring this thread back to see if there is any information on these problems I may have missed. I did do a search on "mcor4" and this thread is the only thing that popped up.

Is there some kind of link between the altrax controllers and mcor problems? I had problems shortly after I installed my altrax when I replaced my first mcor4, and now once again about 6 months since the last replacement.

I got in this habit to pump the go pedal several times before taking off and this helped for a little while. Then I needed to do it much too often. For me I get a little blips of what feels like power loss while at full throttle and at higher speed (20-24mph). When I mash the pedal it picks up speed smoothly until I hit that higher speed range then I start feeling it, like a slight cut out of power and then right back to full power. It is just little 1 second momentary blips that have no special timing between them, totally random. I can cruise around slow (10-12) all day w/o a problem, which I do often and am wondering if this is the problem. Am I Forcing a week spot inside the mcor potentiometer driving around slower with the pedal half pressed? Would adding on the FN2 and controlling my speed with that while keeping my foot to the floor potentially eliminate this problem? Though I'd much rather control my speed with the pedal than the knob. Just a thought.

Just to add, My cart is used year round in Florida, it doesn't sit for long periods of time. There is of course less use in the cooler winter months or if we are out of town on vacation, but this is a week at a time max of non use. It is stored under my carport, out of the rain and sun but not away from the outside humidity and temperature. Wonder if this comes into play here?

Lastly, are there any companies out there that make a better aftermarket mcor? One that has better quality internals that aren't prone to failure? Or are there just not that many problems with the mcor4 to go that route? I do purchased the Mexico pieces when replacing, not the China pieces.

I feel like those in this thread may have more insight at this point dealing with this considering the information I found in here which is why I didn't start "another" Mcor thread. Any input on the subject would be appreciated.

There is no issue when using the MCOR with an Alltrax XCT or SR controller. The Old DCX controllers didn't play nicely with it, but the new ones are fine. A lot of people discover that they have an MCOR issue when they install a new Alltrax controller because the Alltrax responds to throttle input much faster and aggressively than the old Curtis controller did, so you feel every imperfection in the throttle. RHOX makes a replacement unit called the RTS throttle switch, but I have not tried any of them. We're getting about 5-7 years on average with a factory MCOR4 when installed on a golf car that is used often. I've come to the conclusion that these have a higher failure rate on vehicles that sit for long periods of time without being used.

Our Alltrax XCT has been working fine with the MCOR that came in our used 2003 DS.
Haven't looked to see which one I have, but I have a new MCOR4 as a spare.

Also, when buying an MCOR4 be sure to get the one made in Mexico by ITW Switches, not the one made in China.
