Default I think G29 electric motor officially died!

Hello all!

For the past month or so I have been having some issues with my cart seeming to loose motor power (lights still work) while running. My motor has also increasingly seemed louder, like i can here the brushes. Well this afternoon while riding it lost power and never regained it. I checked the batteries and they were still good. Checked all connections and made sure i could here the solenoid click. When i touched the motor after 30-45 minutes of doing this it was still very hot.

Let me know what y'all think!

It's time to pull the motor and inspect it. You will learn way more by looking at the motor in question than you will by getting opinions from guys on a website. Actually, the time to pull the motor apart was when it first starting having issues, particularly started sounding different, but apparently that ship sailed awhile ago.

If you are lucky you might find that you are able to get away with simply replacing the brushes, but my gut is that you're going to find that you've damaged the armature. If so, the stock Hitachi in the G29 isn't worth repairing.

Good luck,

TJ

Yup. Happened to me too. You can disassemble it and see if it can be saved with new brushes and an armature turning job.

What symptoms did yours have before it died? Did you have an upgraded controller when it happened?

I ordered a motor from Don at plowmans carts today!

Yes I had an upgraded controller but I had it dialed down to 400 Amps and I was not pushing it hard. My wife had it out and it smelled when she got back and the motor was super hot. IT still ran but I immediately replace the motor with a D&D. IT still stunk when I pulled it out and replaced it.

Yeah I thought the 300 amp wouldn't burn up the stock motor.

I wonder what caused it to burn up then.
