G1 Brakes
I am ordering some brake shoes for my G1 today and I was wondering if anybody had pics or detailed instructions on how to replace them. I am new to golf carts and haven`t really done any major work to any vehicle before! Thanks in advance guys!

Re: G1 Brakes
First, you'll need to know witch brake shoes to order. Early G1's had a manual adjuster at the top of the backing plate, so J10 brake shoe sets. Later G1's had self adjusters at the bottom and use J55-w2536-00-00 brake shoes. I have found the best way is to remove the axle. The axle flange has 2 large holes, if you put the holes at 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock, you can remove the 2 12mm head bolts, then rotate the holes to 11 o'clock and 5 o'clock and remove the last 2 bolts. Remove the axle, then remount the backing plate with 1 bolt. That will hold it place to work with the spring/retainors. Don't forget to back the adjuster to the closed position. Hope that helped.
