Default G1 Coil Help

I just started working on a G1 that's been sitting for about 2 years because it needed an engine rebuild. I rebuilt the engine and can't get any spark. I am getting about 10-12 volts out of the coil to the spark plug but I can't find anywhere what the voltage is supposed to be. My dad said he's had coil issues with it before but before I spend the money I want to be as sure as I can that it is the coil. I bought a new spark plug even though the old one still looked good but still no spark.
